A Liberals Pledge

To My Conservative Brothers and Sisters,

I know you are dismayed and disheartened at the results of last week's election. You're worried that the country is heading toward a very bad place you don't want it to go. Your 12-year Republican Revolution has ended with so much yet to do, so many promises left unfulfilled. You are in a funk, and I understand.

Well, cheer up, my friends! Do not despair. I have good news for you. I, and the millions of others who are now in charge with our Democratic Congress, have a pledge we would like to make to you, a list of promises that we offer you because we value you as our fellow Americans. You deserve to know what we plan to do with our newfound power -- and, to be specific, what we will do to you and for you.

Thus, here is our Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives:

Dear Conservatives and Republicans,

I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you:

1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.

2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.

3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.

4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.

5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too.

6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.

7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.

8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.

9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours.

10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.

11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world.

12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition.

I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world.

Thanks Michael Moore for this awesome letter that speaks what our party is really about

America Has Spoken

WOW WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!! AMERICA HAS SPOKEN, AND WE WANT CHANGE!!!!!!!! AS OF RIGHT NOW WE HAVE TAKEN OVER THE HOUSE AND HAVE A VERY GOOD CHANCE OF TAKING CONTROL OF THE SENATE!!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN AND CANT WAIT TO SEE OUR COUNTRY GET BACK ON THE RIGHT PATH!!!! THANK YOU AMERICA, THANK YOU FOR SAYING ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND SENDING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION A LOUD CLEAR MESSAGE SAYING THIS IS A REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY AND YOUR ACTIONS ARE AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Although I do not want to go to sleep and could watch cnn and msnbc all though the night, I have a test tomorrow at 10am so I must retire for the night.  I have always loved watching election coverage  and today was no exception. wow what a night for America.. Hopefully when I awaken it will be to the news of Democratic control of hte senate as well, but I am almost positive that it will be weeks until we know for sure.......2000 here we go again. Thank you everyone for voting and good night to you all, stay tuned for more updates

VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE

GO OUT AND VOTE
If you do not you are a disgrace to this nation and have pissed on the graves of all the men and women who have died for your rights. Its sickening that only 30% of Americans vote during midterm elections (I would venture to guess that only 30% of the nation even knows what midterm elections even are)  Major Changes can occur today and we have the power to put this country back on track....please take the 5min it takes to vote and serve your country.
If you are under the legal age to vote then you have the one and only acceptable excuse

I will not be happy unless at least 51% of the nation votes today (that is still a pretty sad statistic)

If the polls are right today could go down in history as a turning point, or it could go down in history by saying Americans dont care about anything the Government does and scare tactics from liars and hypocrits truly sway our weak minds. The choice is up to you

I's going to be on the tele

Hardball with Chris Matthews is coming to broadcast  live from campus, so I am going to go.  John Mccain is going to be his guest so hopefully during the question and answer section I will be allowed to ask John about certain things. Hopefully, they don't "pre arrange" what questions will be asked, because I have some things I really want to say to the Senator.  So  you my, loyal readers  have a possible chance to see yours truly the Crazy Liberal himself on national TV asking a real question NOT something like, " How would you describe the war in Iraq, the  best war ever, the great war or the greatest war," or "Why is the President so much like Jesus,  I love him " And see how Senator John Mccain will try and talk without answering the question. Should be interesting and I really hope I get the chance to ask a question(s)  For those of you who are interested in watching the show it is on MSNBC and is supposed to be taped live at 4pm (central time) from the wonderful Iowa State University.  After the show I will post with my own commentary about it.

On another note, my absentee ballot has arrived so I am excited to send it back, I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to vote (if you legally can) even if you are going to vote republican, it doesn't matter, just go out and vote, its your duty as an American and a lot of people have died to give you such an opportunity.  Also take some time to be an informed voter and actually research the candidates you are voting for, its pointless to just show up and check off random boxes. Project Vote smart is an excellent resource to educate yourself about the candidates.  Voting is easy to sign up to do, doesn't take much time at all so there is no excuse at all to not go out and do it barring some sort of emergency on the day of the election.  If you are not going to be in the area you are registered in, have a absentee ballot sent to your location, I did and it was completely painless... They even paid for the shipping to send it back!!  here is a website that will get you registered:
http://www.govote.org

For information on your candidates try this website:
http://www.vote-smart.org
Project Vote smart is a not for profit, nonpartisan information website and I highly recommend it

You have around 3 weeks or less to get informed that is plenty of time to learn about the people that are running for positions that have a direct effect on your lives, this isn't something you should be careless about.

Revamped and ready to go

After being really down about this nation  last month, I have overcome my  political depression and am back "in the fight"  A recent look at the polls  has made me happy America is finally starting to wake up and not trust the repubLIEcans and maybe this election will be good, maybe it wont its all up in the air really.  Polls have deceived me in the past so I do not trust them, but they can be a useful tool when taken correctly and have a  error rate of less than .05 (5%)

After Much Thought I have decided that I will not vote for democrat or republican for Illinois Governor, and will vote for the Green Party canidate Rich Whitney.  Rod Blago.(D) is not a good governor and doesnt deserve to get re-elected and the republican canidate Judy Barr Topika is just a nut case.  Whitney shares a lot of my views and while I know he wont get elected, I can honestly say I actually support in full the person I am electing.  I want Rod to stay as governor because Judy will ruin the state, but I cant vote for him because I dont like him and dont want to vote for the better of two bad canidates.

President Bush has shredded the constitution, By basically removing the writ of Habeaus Corpus, he has stripped the Bill of Rights of all of its power. This is the worst of his many assualts on this Country. When he took office he swore to DEFEND and Protect the Constitution of the United States of America, and what he has done is in my opinoin an act of Treason and Bush should be immediately be removed from power. What makes me more angry is that congress passed this crap and the so called "rebel" Republicans once again put their tails between their legs and stepped back in line and now we are a nation that can proudly say, "We dont Torture" but the defination of Torture is up to what President Bush decideds Torture means.  We are no longer a nation that elected representatives to serve us, instead we are a nation that elects representatives to serve their own interests and not care at all about the American people.  So why did we ever fight to become our own country? There  may be lots of places that are far worse than here, but that is never an acceptable excuse for what is going on. We are better than this.

I got to meet and talk with John Kerry last week for like 30min and then watch him give a speech to the wonderul Iowa State Campus during political action week. After speaking with him personally I can honestly say he is a good man and I wish he would have been elected as President.

I want to be more active on this blog, but my time is limited, maybe on weekends I will have the time to write about what is on my mind (with regards to politics, this is not and never has been a diary about every second of my life)  I may try to find another blog that gets out to more people and is more based on politics, if I do I will definatey provide a fowarding link to where ever I may go.  if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate your input.  I also plan to resume recruiting readers of my Xanga ( If I still stay with them) because I value the input and opinoins of others and want my thoughts to reach as many people as possible.

Help take the first step in restoring our status as the greatest Nation on the earth....vote the republicans out
Good night
